Utrecht, which was in the Middle Ages the most important and the richest city of the lowlands, is just 10 kilometers away. Nearby are also the patrician mansions along the Vecht, the castle of Belle van Zuilen and Muiderslot castle where the life of Floris V tragically came to an end. The castle was featured in many television and radio shows in Hilversum.
