Situated in the middle of a hill, under the watchful eye of the beautiful town of Cortona, you will find the ancient, noble villa, surrounded by olive groves and an old rustic park. Here you can relax and enjoy the stately cypress trees, the pine trees and a magnificent view of the old town of Cortona. The stately villa, which dates from around 1800, has been fully restored to its original state, only the bathroom and kitchen are contemporary. In addition to the villa there are two, equally old, outbuildings. These buildings have also been fully restored. In the garden of the villa, the owner has built a swimming pool for the guests. From the villa, the great cultural cities of Tuscany and Umbria are easy to reach, but in the immediate surroundings there are also many old villages that have plenty to reveal. A stay at our villa, or one of its outbuildings, provides you with the opportunity to enjoy plenty of natural beauty and culture, both on the estate and in the immediate surroundings.
On the slopes of the hills rises Cortona, one of the jewels of Tuscany. Its buildings are made of sandstone and have wooden balconies which highlight the medieval streets and squares. Cortona is a town of Etruscan origin, located in the mountains of the province of Arezzo. The city was established on one of the earliest inhabited hills of the province and has a similar topography and wonderful streets like Assisi and Volterra. The American writer Frances Mayes bought an old house in Cortona during the nineties and completely refurbished it. Here he wrote “Under the Tuscan Sun” (1996). It became a bestseller and then a film in 2003. Since then Cortona has become a popular destination with tourists. The city acquired additional publicity when it served as a backdrop for some scenes in Roberto Benigni's film “La vita è bella”. Cortona is situated not far from the border of Tuscany and Umbria. In the west the town spreads as far as the Valdichiana Valley, with the extinct volcano of Monte Amiata (1738 m) in the background. Lake Trasimeno in Umbria is visible from the higher elevations of the city. Cortona has a beautiful footpath full of cafes and restaurants. In summer there are a number of activities possible here. 12 kilometers from the residence there is Lake Trasimeno. It's like a small sea. There are beaches, ferries, islands, rocks and fishermen. Lake Trasimeno is one of the enchanted cores of Italy, located south of the Apennines. The Big Island is the only inhabited island of the lake. It has several dozen residents who live among the nice rocks. The island is known for its women with their expensive, almost century-old braids. Cortona is located 30 km south of the city of Arezzo, 75 km east of Siena and 115 km south of Florence. All facilities such as shops, restaurants and public transportation are located within 3 km.

The villa exudes its old grandeur immediately upon arrival. From the large terrace in front of the villa (from where you have a magnificent view) sliding doors provide access into the original living room which contains a large sitting area, terracotta floors and sturdy wood beams. The villa is furnished with authentic, 19th century furniture. The atmosphere is that of a noble villa. In addition to the living room there is a half sitting room on the other side, again authentic and complete with a large cozy fireplace. On the other side of the living room you'll find the traditional dining room from where you gain access to the well-equipped kitchen. The kitchen includes a dishwasher. From the living room there is a grand staircase to the first floor where there are the three double bedrooms and two bathrooms, one with a shower the other with a bathtub. All three bedrooms are particularly attractive because of their use of ancient materials, terracotta floors and beamed ceilings, combined with authentic, classic furniture. Each bedroom is furnished with a double bed. From this floor you can reach the parking area at the rear of the house. The house has a private terrace where you can sit and relax. You can also enjoy strolling over the common grounds of the villa (which you share with the residents of the other two accommodations). The garden contains a swimming pool which offers a magnificent view of Cortona. If you have ten persons, rent the villa and offices and you have a formidable accommodation on the border of Tuscany and Umbria: A villa with large grounds and a swimming pool, exclusively for your enjoyment!
