Winter sports; Among nature; Near water
Snow Valley, the indoor ski paradise, is one of the largest indoor ski resorts in Europe. It is located just 4 km from the Erperheide. Take a ski lesson to master the sport of skiing or to refine your skills. A day at Snow Valley is itself a ski holiday! And that includes apres-ski as well! Did you dream of F-16 aircraft as a little boy? At the Kiezel Kleine-Brogel (8 km from the Erperheid) there is a spotters corner and special spotters days are organized. Make the day complete with a tour of the air base and a visit to the museum. There are also a number of other museums: Royal Harmony Museum, Music Museum, The Bruegel Museum, Armand Preud'homme Museum in Peer, the Kleine-Brogel Air Museum in Kleine-Brogel and the Brewery Museum in Bocholt. These are located at a maximum distance of 11 km from the Erperheide. You can explore the surroundings of course in different ways: hiking, cycling or horse riding. The bike rental and service in Neerglabbeek is a good starting point. Cycling maps, brochures, cycling equipment, a digital info display, a weather station and a compressor are at your disposal. Have you ever been in a barn? Do you know how the farmer takes care of his livestock? Stop by one of the hospitable farmers or horticulturists in the area. These behind the scenes tours are a unique experience for both young and old (Reservations required). Or would you prefer to go shopping or just wander around in a beautiful city, like Hasselt, the cosiest city in Flanders, or Maaseik with its sites and museums. There's also Tongeren, the oldest town in Belgium and the city of Maastricht which is just 45 km from Peer. Nice trips with the kids: a walk on the barefoot path in Lieteberg, a visit to Cosmodrome in Kattevennen or Plopsaland in Hasselt. Afterward you can relax while enjoying one of the Limburg regions beverages, such as fruit juice, a (Trappist) beer or a savory glass of wine.
